"Stroke / Parkinson's"

About: East Surrey Hospital

Consultant not seen until I had been on the ward for 39 hours (totally unacceptable)and then he did not listen to the fact that I have parkinson's and that could he discuss my case with a parkinson's specialist. I was put on the "stroke highway" without any lateral thinking and wasted nhs bed and time for five days!. Would now not under any circumstances report any stroke like symptoms and will do everything to stay away from hospital. Quality of nursing staff varied tremendously from the totally uncaring to the really compassionate.

Dear Michelle

I am sorry to hear about your experience and would like to look into the matter further if you would be happy to let me have you details via my email ben.mearns@sash.nhs.uk?

We have a standard that Consultants will review all admitted medical patients within 14 hours and indeed this usually happens much sooner than that. Therefore I was concerned to hear that you said a Consultant had not seen you for 39 hours.

If you would like to get in touch I will look into it, but if you would ratehr not then please do accept my apologies.
