"Dad's treatment"

About: Princess Royal Hospital (Haywards Heath)

The oncology deptment of the hospital is a joke. MDT meetings taking weeks so patient and relatives are waiting for important results. When the results do come back positive, no specialist nurse is assigned to the family. No help given on what to do next etc. A formal complaint had to be sent before oncologist WAS seen, excuse was patient told biopsy needed to be done first to confirm cancer. Patient AND daughters had been told he had cancer that had already spread to both lungs, adrenal gland and lymph nodes so why wait for biopsy co confirm cancer

Trish Barnes Thank you for your comment regarding the oncology department at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust which I have passed on to a senior oncology manager. I am sorry that you felt that there was a delay in your father's treatment, lack of communication and that you had to make a formal complaint before an oncologist was seen. If you have any further concerns please don't hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service either by telephone; Shrewsbury 01743 261691 or Telford 01952 282888 or email: PALS@sath.nhs.uk and the PALS team will be happy to look into any concerns on your behalf.
