What I liked
The midwifery and obstetric staff were extremely friendly and professional at all times during my labour with complications. I stayed on labour ward for over 24 hours and was on the ward for several hours prior to going home.
I thank all the staff on labour ward involved in what I consider to be a very positive birthing experience.
What could be improved
At times it was busy and I recall feeling awkward when asking for help as I felt sorry for the midwives looking after me as they had other people to care for as well - mainly I needed help picking up and putting down the baby, so support staff would have been ideal.
Particularly on Cestrian ward, it was obviously very busy and I felt that the staff were forced to do the bare minimum - which was okay for me as I just wanted to go home, however I had been considered to be 'high risk' on labour ward so I feel that a drop to minimal care was quite severe as I still needed to have regular BP checks before I would be suitable to go home.
Anything else?
Both wards were clean and tidy. It was at a time where there were no visitors due to norovirus outbreak, and I think this was best as I was there to rest.
