"Wednesdays at John Eastwood Hospice"

About: John Eastwood Hospice (inpatient)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Long term conditions sessions (Wednesdays):

This experience at the hospice every Wednesday has changed my life. It is the best thing I have ever done. It has helped build my confidence and given me a new lease of life. My chronic health problems are still there but they have taken a back seat. I feel I manage to function and cope better.

I was mugged in December 2013 and this greatly set me back both physically and mentally. I was frightened to go out and stopped going to the Centre (a social centre with bingo, etc, every Tuesday and Wednesday). Attending the long term conditions sessions has really helped me tremendously. I have never met such kind, sociable and helpful people in a long time. I am very sad for it to end.

I will be encouraged to do more for myself at home, like potting herbs and plants.

I will also be exchanging telephone numbers with another lady who I have met at the hospice.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, I will pass on your inspiring words to the hospice staff, volunteers and community matrons who make Wednesday happen.

I am so pleased that you have been able to regain some of your confidence and will be continuing with some of the activities that you participated in and be maintaining contact with friends you have made.

Many Thanks & regards
