"Wonderful volunteers at the Hospice reassuring for family carer down under"

About: John Eastwood Hospice (inpatient)

(as a relative),

Long term conditions sessions (Wednesdays):

I have been with my sister to this group, and I think it is a wonderful place. It has given my sister such a boost. She has made lots of things and it has helped her in so many ways to try new things. It has given her her confidence back. I am on holiday here - I live in Australia, and when my sister told me what she is doing I could tell the difference in her voice while speaking on the phone. She was so happy. I do volunteer work in Australia and I cannot fault your volunteers - they are wonderful. They treat everyone not as sick people but as someone who still has a lot to offer, while still being caring and good. I will be telling people back home about my volunteer friends in Mansfield! Also she has had some very good equipment got for her to make her life easier. it is very much appreciated. I congratulate you on this wonderful scheme.

Thank you for taking the time to tell your story.

The volunteers are central to the care and support we are able to offer people here at John Eastwood Hospice. The team endeavour to treat people who come into our care as people and not a set of symptoms - are aim is to provide person centred care individual to each set of needs and give people the confidence to live with illness.

I am pleased to hear that you and your sister's experience has been positive and that you will sharing this with your friends on the other side of the world.

Best Wishes Emma
