I had the misfortune to have to take my 9 year old grandson to a&e Saturday 5th July at 8.30 pm we checked in at reception and were told to take a seat the waiting area was absolutely packed. We asked how long was waiting time and was told because of his head injury we would be next about 20mins 20mins came and went which accepted however no one came to look at his head. . He had a big wad of blood soaked tissue on his head held by me. . So surley he should have been at least assesed. Time went on others went in before us. .. I understand that for instanceva baby went I n before who was very unwell that they should take priority however 2 /3 more went in and went up o desk again an complained that others were going in before us. Receptionist very. Understanding apologised and said they may have priority I sat down again. Sister came out and apologised to everyone for long wait but apparently they had emergencys in back by that time people were getting very annoyed. They came out and called someone else in. A boy with a plaster on his knee! Then they came out later and called someone who wasnt even there I called the male nurse and asked when charlie was going to be seen this was at 9.30.He said he would find out. ........ I finally got in to see somone at 10.30 nearly 2hours we waited.. Luckily they were able to glue his head the staff nurse apologised for wait and said they were very busy. We were only in there about 10minutes. My point is he should have been looked at earlier they didnt know how bad he was head injurys should take priority. . What she was telling me on reception that we were next they were not following out the back!!!!!!!You need more staff a bigger a&e to cope with the surrounding population.. I know you are having improvements done to this area. .But for goodness sake how long is this going to take its been well over a year. . Persimmon could build a whole housing estate by that time!!!!!! I will most likely complain to my mp I feel so angry
