"Disgusting"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

After the treatment my son received in A&E recently with a back injury I would never set foot in this hospital again! He was admitted in excruciating pain unable to bend or walk without screaming in pain. A doctor quickly made her assessment by prodding his legs , he was then given "paracetamol" then about 20mins later was given diazepam and told to leave!! Whilst struggling along the corridors he passed nursing staff and doctors and not one of them offered any assistance whatsoever, his pregnant fiancée 23weeks had to struggle to hold him up! If this is care then God help us getting ill! Believe me though this is not a matter I will be brushing under the carpet!

I am sorry to hear that this recent experience of your family was not satisfactory .We would clearly like to learn more about what happened and would welcome your son getting in touch with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) team at the Cumberland Infirmary to explain his experience in more detail if he so wishes. T he PALS team can be reached on 01228 814008 between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday, or by sending us an email to PALSCIC@ncuh.nhs.uk. Please note that your son would need to give his written consent for you to follow up on his behalf. I do hope that he is making a good recovery now from his injury. With best wishes Alison Patient Experience
