"My Experience at The Day Surgery Unit For Ptosis..."

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital

On entering the day surgery unit a nurse took my name birth date etc and I was directed to a further waiting area after a few minutes I was collected by a young nurse and taken to a small room where they explained in a very professional and friendly manner the registration process and the checks etc and explained the sequence of events up to surgery and made sure I was aware of what would happen and when her approach and manner made me very relaxed as to what was going to happen. Once all the checks had been made and gown on I was taken to a lounge area to wait for surgery. Every where I went in the day surgery unit it was immaculate and pristine condition this is from some one who had in amongst his responsibilities government hi tech buildings hygiene and cleanliness I can tell the difference between surface clean and actual clean a real credit to the Hospital and its staff very impressed. Surgery time, again the nurse took me to a small area next to the theatre where a lady checked my wrist bands date of birth and made sure I was aware as to what was going to happen, once inside I was made comfortable and suspect that because I was having surgery under local anaesthetic I had a lady holding my hand through the entire procedure which I found profoundly comforting .Because of the local anaesthetic I was privy to all that happened during my surgery and how impressive it was, the management of the procedure the constant checking and re checking and the attention to detail made one realise you were in the care of absolute professionals and how fortunate I was to be in the care of the doctor and their team. Once out of theatre I was taken back to the lounge area cup of tea and monitored to make sure one was ok to be discharged and walked to the exit by the nurse, this is without doubt the best experience I have ever had in a Hospital. Over the past 4 years I have had 2 life threatening situations and I'm alive because of the NHS and in particular Dianna Princess of Wales hospital staff who without doubt saved my life and I feel perhaps the Hospital should broadcast its many sucesses #

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us, it's wonderful to hear that our staff were able to make you feel comfortable and cared for throughout your stay at the hospital. I've shared your comments with the relevant manager and I'm sure the staff involved will feel very touched by your kind words. Warm regards, Sarah Mainprize
