Frightened about going to hospital for a check up? So was I. After talking to friends, colleagues and reading about my symptoms on the internet, I was convinced I knew what was wrong with me and how I was going to be treated by the medical staff. How wrong could I have been. From the moment I entered the Treatment Centre I found the staff, helpful, friendly and professional. The nurses were very friendly, kind and helpful. I did not expect to be treated with such care and kindness given the extremely busy environment of a hospital. At the end of my appointment, one of the nurses asked if I would like glass of water before I went home. My dignity was respected throughout whilst the procedures/examinations were being carried out and a biopsy was taken. The consultant was excellent.. During my examination he kept me informed not only of what he was examining but also if he had found anything that may need treatment or that a biopsy would have to be taken. He even asked me if I would mind him removing the polyp he found. What a bedside manner!! During the consultation afterwards he left me in no doubt what he thought the outcome of my test results would be. Very reassuring to have been seen by a Consultant who is not only dedicated to his profession but who also demonstrated that even at the top of your profession you can treat patients with care and consideration. I have told all my family, friends and work colleagues that if they ever need to go to hospital ask to be sent to the Treatment Centre. The females I have told them to insist on the consultant and his team.
