"Breast Cancer Diagnosis"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

My wife attended the Chartwell Unit for suspected breast tumours this week. On Monday we were told the the mammogram machine was being upgraded and not available until midweek. We waited 90 mins to have an ultrasound. The consultant radiologist who did the ultrasound and biopies was excellent, informative and treated both of us with respect. We were given the results on Weds but had to wait again for the mammogram on Thurs. On Thurs when my wife attended, the radiologist was rude and dismissive when my wife asked for some water (she had a headache and was feeling stressed). My wife didn't feel that she was being treated in a sympathetic and dignified fashion, knowing that she still had not been fully cleared of a malignant tumour. After the mammogram she was told that she would get the results later that day. Nobody call and she called on Fri to then be told that the results were still not available until next week. Overall, this is disappointing in relation to the potential severity of the situation and the anxiety suffered by my wife.
