"childrens bloods"

About: Bristol Royal Hospital For Children / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My 10 year old son has been having persistent leg pain for 4 weeks, after redtting for two weeks with no improvement a return visit to our gp has resulted in me being given a blood request form and bring told that " they want to rule out leukemia"

Can you imagine my dispare when the first available appointment to get bloods taken at the childrens hospital or south bristol walk in centre is two weeks away.

I have been advised to call monday to see if they have a cancellation but they are very busy and short staffed.

I am disgusted that a test for such a devastating illness cannot be done as a matter of urgency.

We are very concerned to hear about your experience. We can fully understand how distressing this must have been, particularly when the reasons for the blood test were described by your GP in this way. Please can you contact our LIAISE team so that we can look into this for you: 0117 342 8065 or 0117 342 8158, email: bchinfo@UHBristol.nhs.uk . Thank you.
