The worst haematology department in all of the NHS. I was seeing one doctor for over 15 years for an inherited blood disorder - beta thalassaemia... He retired so was passed on to another haematologist. She is pathetic, to say the very least! In over 25 years of being diagnosed with beta thalassaemia, Crohn's disease and being a strict vegan, not once have my vitamin B12 levels been checked, despite asking for them to be! No follow up appointments after iron infusions (venofer and cosmofer) which are only given to me when my iron levels are minus zero and blood count drops below 8... and follow up appointments after iron infusions many, many months later! Is it any wonder I'm lethargic, dizzy, faint a lot and very breathless! My faith in the NHS is about the same as my iron count. I insisted on having my iron and full blood count checked last week at my GP's practice. A week later and they finally have my results after ringing up every day since. Was told my ironcount is normal and blood count is satisfactory with no further action required! That's what I was told in December when my bloods were taken twice and blood count was 7 and iron levels minus zero!! What is going on? If I wanted to waste resources and had the energy, I'd be the first to take legal action against Lincoln NHS trust.
