"TIA Treatment"

About: Good Hope Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

Recentlye I suffered a TIA whilst visiting my sister in North Staffs Uni. Hospital. I attended A & E at 21. 15hrs, seen by a nurse who summoned a doctor who said I could wait to see a member of the A & E team. This happened at around midnight. I was sent home with a letter stating I had had more than one episode of TIA, treated with ear drops administered orally. No one told me not to drive so I drove to Tamworth the next day.

I attend my own doctor in Tamworth (Dr Misra Aldergate) who was very concerned taking the time to phone Good Hope and speaking to the Stroke team. My son and daughter took me there. The staff were on the case instantly checking my reactions and giving me a full examination. Okay, I had to wait until 21. 15hrs to be admitted but there was someone checking on me every half hour or so while we waited in AMU (I think). The staff on ward 24 were brilliant from the lady who bustled in with the tea, the cleaner, nursing staff, doctors to Mr Henry the consultant. I cannot say anything bad about anyone, they were all caring and professional from beginning to end.

Update posted by peatman (the patient)

Thanks for that Anne-Marie. I can only speak as I find. Have been associated in one way or another with Good Hope since 1988 I have never met anyone, in any position who has not been totally professional, kind and supportive. I still have a small toy rabbit named after a member of staff from ITU where I stayed in 86. Phyllis goes everywhere with me reminding me of how lucky I was with my treatment and care from the staff at Good Hope. In this modern society everyone wants dealing with now, its easy to be critical and not see the whole picture.
