I had a major operation in April for penile cancer which necessitated in removal of all genital organs and reconstruction of the urethra system. This was followed up in June by bilateral dissection of the lymph nodes in the groin to eliminate the spread of the cancer. Thankfully the histology on the lymph nodes proved that their was no spread. I had excellent service beyond the call of duties to opening up the theatre on Good Friday morning when the staff should have been on holiday to carry out the first procedure. The consultants, registrars, doctors ,nursing staff and kitchen staff were all wonderful and could not do enough for me. The food was very acceptable once one found the right ones to order and the apple crumble and custard were superb. I would without any hesitation recommend the Urology department of the Leicester General Hospital and thank them for saving my life when other hospitals could not operate.
