"the nursing staff were mostly ..."

About: Lister Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

the nursing staff were mostly very friendly and helpful, apart from one nurse.

What could be improved

it could be quiter at night time! while trying to sleep the doctors and nurses did not keep there voices lowered in the middle of the night! one surgeon wandered around the ward at 1.45 in the morning shouting down his mobile phone!

Sorry for the time it has taken to respond to this comment, which was submitted last October. Due to an unforeseen glitch in the national website system, we have only just been notified of your message.

Although some time has passed, we would still very much like to thank you for your kind comments about the caring and friendly nature of our staff. We always encourage that where our patients find any member of our staff unhelpful, to take this matter up with the sister in charge of the ward. That's also true if you feel some staff are not being mindful of all patients' right to as quiet as possible a ward at night.

If you feel uncomfortable bringing such matters up with a ward sister, then we have over 20 matrons across our hospitals whose role includes championing such issues on behalf of patients. Unless we know about our patients' concerns when they happen, there is little that we can do to resolve the problem before they leave hospital.
