"ENT - Evil Nasty Traumatic"

About: Worthing Hospital

I visited Worthing ENT during the summer - autumn of 2013 and it was only after realising there was a feedback page that I decided to write my review. I had been referred to ENT by my doctor after developing a 'lump' on my cheek/neck. Generally, I think Worthing Hopsital is pretty good but the consultant I saw at ENT has tainted my view of specalists for a long time to come. They had the worst attitude I have EVER seen in my life, rude, insulting, made me feel like I had no place being there and was an utter discrace to the NHS. I had to see them twice and both times were the same. After the second time they left me with no conclusion to what was wrong and I had to speak to the other staff to help me get a second opinion from a different consultant. The staff in ENT appear to be aware of this happening and said 'yes we have heard that before'. The second consultant I saw was much better. They seemed to care, gave me options and advise about what was wrong. But by then my feelings towards ENT at Worthing were beyond saving. I honestly feel the first consultant I saw should be struck off and not be allowed to work, they give the NHS a bad name and even a year on, I feel angry about the way I was treated and hope others don't have to see them.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this posting. We are very concerned to hear your feedback about the attitude of the staff member when you attended this clinic. We are sorry that your experience was so poor, this is not the behaviour we accept from any member of staff in our organisation. The managers of the department have been sent a copy of your feedback and would like to investigate your concerns further. As NHS Choices is a confidential site they do not share your details directly with us. We would therefore be grateful if you would contact us to talk to us further about your experience. You can do this by visiting our website www.westernsussexhospitals.nhs.uk/contacts/pals/, calling our PALS department on 01903 285032 or emailing us at PALSWorthing@wsht.nhs.uk
