"Physio was terrible and made my condition worse"

About: Harrogate District Hospital

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and referred to a so called specialist group physio for people with the condition. The sessions were awful and seemed to assume everyone present was lazy and workshy. I actually work full time in a high pressure role and exercise regularly. As a result of following their ill conceived advice I suffered a massive relapse and became very ill to the point that I could not walk or see properly. I would not recommend. The approach was patronising and stupid and, based on my experience, totally wrong.

Thank you for your feedback, which is always appreciated in helping us to improve our services. Group physio is just one option for patients in the Physiotherapy department and whilst many find it extremely helpful, it will not be to everyone's taste. Did you let your Physio know about your concerns? If so, I hope that they were able to suggest a course of care that you found more useful to you. I am sorry that you found the group physio programme unhelpful and hope that you are now recovering for the deterioration in your condition. Thank you again for providing us with your feedback. Yours faithfully Chris Watt Head of Communications Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust
