"I think there are a couple of computer glitches which could make the service better"

About: NHS 111

(as the patient),

I called 111 service, the lady who answered was very helpful and the over all experience was fine.

However, I think there are a couple of computer glitches which could make the service better.

Firstly, I was advised to go to see a doctor at the Pool A&E department which I queried as Poole is 20 miles away; Dorchester is much closer and more appropriate to my postcode. The lady on the phone checked this for me and was able to refer me to Dorchester. I thought I would raise this as there may be elderly people who would not question where they were being asked to go and may at cost and inconvenience travel further than they need to.

Secondly, after the arrangements were made to be seen at Dorchester I then received a further call for a later appointment – this was fine as it gave me more time to get there. However, this was followed by two further calls which seemed to be automatically generated as they were both calls to make an appointment at the hospital. It was as if there was something in the system showing that my call had not been fully resolved and 111 needed to call me to complete the loop.
