"The responder car arrived while I was still on the phone"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My husband was in the conservatory and suddenly could not speak. When I asked him if he was all right he just mumbled and could not speak clearly, I thought his eyes also looked droopy. I was worried he was having a stroke or something so I called the 999 service.

The lady who answered asked me how he was looking and must have sent the paramedic out immediately - the responder car arrived while I was still on the phone.

They did an EEG to check he was OK and reassured me that I had done absolutely the right thing in calling them. All the checks they performed were fine, they assured me that I should phone them immediately if there was any change in his condition. They really made me feel that I was not wasting their time.

Dear Shiner548

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I hope your husband is recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear that our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to our

patients when they need us most.

I would like to pass your kind comments onto the crew who came to your aid. Would you be able to contact me, laura.martin@swast.nhs.uk or call 01392 453831, at your convenience, with the date and address that the ambulance attended? This would allow me to identify both crew members.

Thank you again for providing feedback on our service.

Kind regards

Laura
