"Given the pressure they were working under they were tremendous"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was involved in an accident where a car hit me in the back of my leg and knocked me over. I managed to get home and phoned the police who came round to see me and advised me to have my leg examined. They called for paramedics who felt I should have my leg x-rayed in case of a fracture.

All of it was a big shock. I have to say that everyone was just amazing. I was taken by ambulance to the Macclesfield A&E, there were signs to say that waiting times were three hours and I was seen after almost exactly three hours.

Given the pressure they were working under they were tremendous – their service was second to none.

I witnessed them dealing with someone who appeared to be very drunk and difficult – they treated him very firmly but politely.
