"My visit to A & E Wednesday evening 25/6/2014"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

My experience with A & E Staff from ambulance crew to the doctors & nurses were excellent. From the moment of leaving my local health centre anxious and worried I was immediately given reassurance by the ambulance crew, in their opinion after checking all the equipment attached to me it wasn’t a heart attack as they see this stuff all the time, but something must of differed from the ECG done at the health centre to the equipment in the ambulance. Who knows, I suppose it’s better to be safe than sorry with chest pains and from someone who only see doctors when it’s real pain and infrequent I guess the GP I saw was just being cautious. So thanks ambulance crew. In hospital I was passed to two nurses who were briefed by the ambulance crew of my vital signs and again treated with dignity & respect they took blood and did paperwork, I noticed it was second nature to them cleaning a tray with antibacterial stuff so the hygiene aspect I’m quite confident with, you can just tell when somebody is doing something instinctively. I was only with them moments and moved on to a bay and it’s a waiting game now for my bloods to come back. A member of staff introduced himself to me and checked my blood pressure regularly, polite and friendly. As time passed waiting for my results I did feel sorry at this point for the staff working here. The member of staff's relief came and took over the monitoring of my blood pressure etc, the relief staff were also polite and friendly made my wife and I a cup of tea which was appreciated. Time passed a little longer and the Doctor arrived with partial blood results all fine fit and healthy so far, one left to come. The doctor too wanted to be thorough and sent me for xray to rule out other things while waiting for the final blood test. All came back fine but still got the pain although much eased. Briefly I found the staff polite, friendly & thorough.
