My adopted grandson who has quadriplegic cp , global delay, epilepsy, glue ear and sight problems, and myself a lone carer with a very long history of mental health issues, attended the Treetops Ward . My Grandson was having an operation that had been in months of planning with myself, his physio,O.T., social worker, school, respite centre and his pediatric consultant. This was not our first visit to Treetops. The ward is beautifully clean as if fact the whole hospital seems to be. The food was very palatable and there was a nice choice for the children. I was particularly impressed with the carers kitchen. Once a very kind domestic showed me where it was . The staff are very busy and hardworking. They are with the exception of a few staff, professional and dedicated to their job . They were very kind to my Grandson. I would very much like to thank the pain control nurse for her kindness to me at a very difficult time, and for seeing the child behind the disability. Also a nurse on night duty who kept me sane , she knows who she is . I would recommend this hospital to anyone who is going there. Lastly I would like to add that this is in no way a complaint and that some of the staff could have been a little more understanding of just how hard it is being a lone carer in a strange place with no family and friends to help me. It was very difficult at 53 years old to ask permission to go off the unit for 10 minutes and even harder asking to come back in .
