"Care for prostate cancer"

About: Borders General Hospital / Urology Western General Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

Diagnosed with prostate cancer in Nov 2013. From the start I was treated with care.

Travel was hard, and a unit in the Borders area would have helped.

Dear Freedie

Thank you, for taking the time to provide feedback on your treatment for prostate cancer. I was really pleased to hear that you felt you were treated with care. I understand that travelling to Edinburgh can be hard for some patients in the Borders. NHS Borders provides treatment for patients requiring chemotherapy locally but unfortunately it is not feasible for us to provide radiotherapy treatments in the Borders. If you require any further information or support please contact Claire Irvine or Kirsty Wallace at the Borders Cancer Information and Support Service on 01896 826888 or 01896 826835.

Firstly apologies for the delay in replying. Thank you very much for your feedback and I am glad that you had a positive experience apart from the travel. Patient experience is vital to us and I will pass on your kind words to the team.
