I have been on the list for the above operation since being discharged from hospital in febuary, I am on life long higher rate warfarin and as such this last week has been multiple trips to arrow park to check inr and administer injections, my operation date was tomorrow 27th june at 7am, and my wife has taken a weeks holiday to look after me as well as a number of arrangements with friends to assist me, at 2 pm having already attended arrow park this morning I was told my operation was cancelled due to no beds being available, I am not aware of any major illness out break and apart from the distress to myself and my family and friends I cannot get over the total waste of NHS resourses, a consultant surgeon an operating thertre and the team of staff to run it, not to mention the medication wasted and apointments with gps and doctors and nurses. while I accept there will always be unforceen occasions putting stress on the hospital it seems to me clearly this hospital does not have enough beds, as if you are full now what happens when there is an epidemic or other peak in demand. I summary the complete waste of service and NHS money over this is mind blowing.
