"Incredible treatment at a sensitive time"

After being diagnosed with a missed miscarriage, the care, compassion and treatment that followed at Treliske hospital was incredible. Although such a sensitive & personal subject, I really wanted to write this review because sadly so many women find themselves in my position and the emotional stress is enough without worrying about medical/surgical treatment (if any is needed or chosen). The two women at the Emergency Gynaecology Unit on my second scan were extremely kind and spent plenty of time running through my options- they were supportive & informative at this extremely difficult time. After opting for an ERPC, I was booked in the very next morning. From the moment I arrived at the hospital, and onto the surgical ward, the healthcare who booked me in and the nurses were wonderful. The doctor & anaesthetist came and saw me & were extremely reassuring & put me at ease- I had never had a general anaesthetic before & they both calmed my nerves & made me feel as relaxed as possible. I woke up in Recovery & any pain I had (although minimal) was immediately seen to. I asked for extra blankets & nothing was too much trouble, even though Recovery was extremely busy with lots of poorly people. I was monitored regularly & only returned to the ward when all my stats were ok. The anaethitist even popped over when I was in Recovery to see how I was doing- she was really lovely. Back on the surgical ward, Trelawny Wing, my fabulous nurse brought me tea and toast & even took the time to hold my hand as I cried after such an emotional and sad day. My doctor visited me once again & spoke to me about how the surgery had gone & I left later that afternoon with my partner feeling as though I had received the best possible care & treatment. For anyone going through anything similar, I hope you can take some comfort in reading my experience. I am so thankful to everyone I saw at Treliske, they were truly impeccable. Thank you for looking after me, in my experience, you all do a truly marvellous job.
