"Forest ward "

About: Lings Bar Hospital / Inpatient Nursing and Rehab (Lings Bar)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I insisted that I have personal care by women only and I got it.

Chiropody should be made more available.

Women should be made aware that they can insist on female care provision.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your views regarding your stay on Forest Ward.

I am pleased that you received your personal care by female members of the ward team as you had requested. We will look into ways of ensuring that all of our patients know that they can request personal care by a member of the same sex as themselves if at all possible.

Unfortunately we are unable to routinely refer to the chiropody service unless there is an identified clinical need. However we encourage families to arrange a chiropody visit for their family member if necessary and in the event of a patient not having a family member to do this for them we would be happy to arrange one on their behalf.

Thank you for sharing your comments with us.

Following on from the response above regarding the provision of personal care - we have now placed information notices on each of our inpatient wards to inform our patients that if they would prefer personal care to be undertaken by a member of staff who is the same sex as themselves they can discuss this with a member of the nursing team. We will then try and facilitate their request if at all possible.
