It's rather frustrating that if attending the Minor Injuries Unit with a child under 5 that may have a possible fracture, you will be redirected to Darrent Valley A&E department. My son and I sat in the MIU for over an hour to be told that the MIU can not x-ray a child under 5 and would need to be done in A&E. What a waste of time. Surely the commissioner or service manager can see that this is the wrong process and have the child triaged in a timely manner so that the correct treatment and investigations can take place in a timely manner and in the right place. Change the process so that patients are triaged quickly without the need for them to sit in the waiting area and then be palmed off to a hospital 8 miles away. This is all rather disappointing when on previous occassions I have had a good experience in using the MIU.
