My son is intolerant to Milk, I have visited doctors in Moray several times for help as he started screaming during feeds, feeding less and becoming unsettled. at first I was told to try different formulas and bottles, then I was told it was a stage babies went through, maybe it was a virus and would pass so persevere, I then had a diagnoses of reflux which is what I had been say since he was 6 weeks old, I was finally given gaviscon and saw another GP who diagnosed colic which I did not agree with, then I went back as the gaviscon stopped working and was told there was nothing more they could do.
I was denied to have my son referred to the paediatrician so had to wait to see the dietician who then said the symptoms I had been telling the doctors were that of an intolerance to milk, we changed milks and it made a difference but my 4 month old stopped gaining weight and began to feed even less
so took his to A&E who said he had an inflamed belly and was very sensitive to milk so prescribed a new one. at no time have any of the doctors given my son the help he needed, being told to persevere with it as its a stage then being given diagnosis of colic because they can't figure it out but it feels like they don't make the effort to. I was driven to PND because of the lack of help being received, no matter how much I went back, I got nowhere. I hope no other parent has to go through this situation and they do have a baby that has an intolerance or allergy to milk then I hope they receive better care and treatment than we have. my battle is still going and my son still isn't getting the service he should, especially as he is a baby,
