About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Medicine (Wards 9-12)

(as a relative),

on more than one occasion my gran has fallen ill due to bleeding and this has resulted in many visits to hospital she has been in both wishaw general and hairmyres.

her last visit was to hairmyres she always speaks highly of the staff in hairmyres and has told many people that given a choice she would prefer to be in hairmyres as the staff on a whole are nice, helpful and pleasant.

Unfortunately her bleeding has not been fixed but has been sent home as she did not want to stay in hospital any longer. she is very grateful to the staff for respecting her wishes and treating her with dignity and respect she is now comfortable at home and resting well and would like to give her thanks to all the staff at hairmyres and to the staff in ward 2 for looking after her during her stay

Dear care123,

Many thanks for this message and I am sorry to read about the problems your Gran has had recently.

I know how difficult it is at times like this not just for the patient but for the family, and I hope that she continues to receive the good standard of care at Hairmyres that she has enjoyed thus far.

The persistent bleeding is obviously a major concern to you and you should ensure that your Gran contacts her GP and/or the Primary Care team in her area to ensure that she is receiving all of the community based support that she needs in order to manage this condition as much as possible in the community.

If you would like to contact my office or our Patient Affairs Dept, then we would point you in the right direction.

I hope that helps and please pass on my best wishes to your Gran, and I will pass on your kind comments to the staff in Ward 2.
