"Postnatal ward review"
About: St Mary's Hospital (Melton Mowbray) St Mary's Hospital (Melton Mowbray) Melton Mowbray LE13 1SJ
I gave birth to my son at the general hospital in early April 2014, and transferred to st. Mary's after 3 days for breastfeeding support. Spent 2 days there with the lovely ladies who were really helpful, still had not cracked it but left with a plan and appointment with a breastfeeding specialist. Would not have tried for so long with the breastfeeding (11 weeks' having to give up now) if it wasn't for the starting help from there. Two comments tho. 1) the handover between day and night shifts was patchy, sometimes I'd have to explain my long story to someone new and then they would have a different solution to the midwife I'd spoken to previously. I didn't mind trying something new if that was the general consensus but if they didn't know my story then was it? 2) I had a emergency c-section at the general and so had limited mobility when at st Mary's. It would have been great to have a wet room as when having a shower, I had to leave the door open on the cubicle to be able to put shampoo etc on a chair as I couldn't bend down to the floor. So the floor got really wet.
