"Allergy clinic - great care at Addenbrooke's Cambridge"

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital / Allergy

(as the patient),

I recently developed an acute allergic reaction to an unknown substance and was referred to the allergy clinic at Addenbrooke's.

I was offered an appointment within two weeks of my initial (scary anaphylactic shock) reaction, was offered various time slots by the list manager and chose one to suit.

The clinic was badly signposted but when I got there the staff were friendly and helpful. I was seen quickly and made to feel completely comfortable by the specialist nurse who initially saw me and applied the spot solutions to my arm to gauge the skins (very minor!) reaction to the sourse of the allergy. After time for any reaction to happen I was taken in to see the consultant (very dishy...) and talked through the allergy that had been identified (chillis and peppers - gutted! No more thai cooking for me!)

All the information was given in clear, uncomplicated language and advise on treatment followed in the post shortly after the consultation.

All in all this was a very positive experience with very professional staff!
