About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

parking eye with the hospitals help are causing problems for people who park in any of there car parks, let me explain.the signage througout the hospitaltells you not to worry if you go over your time as you can top up at any of the machines, this is not true, the parking charges are clearly stated on there pay and display machines, £2 for the first 2 hours £3 .50 for 4 hours and so on. what the machine does not tell you is that if you pay on arrival which i would imagine that most people do then you are prevented from topping up if you go over your time contary to what the singage in the hospital says. i took a friend by car to the a e a day after he took a fit as he was suffering extreme pain in back and down leg, as he and i thought he might have broke something when he hit the ground. after 2 hours realised i may go over the time i had paid for ie £2 and then as per singage went to the machine to top up to the next leval ie £3.50 for four hours even though it was expected we would be finished long before that,so i put £1.50 into the machine to top up the parking time to 4 hours, the machine would not let me,it in other words said i had to start all over again and put £2 in minimum charge.if i had not paid on arrival and paid on leaving the machine would accept £3.50 for 4 hours,so if you pay on arrival you are punished for paying upfront and cannot top up to the charges displayed on the machine,so to all who use the car parks the only way you can park at the prices dsiplayed on the machine is to pay on leaving and not on entry, nice little money earner at the expense the motorist once again
