"Family Planning Serices Experience at Mansfield Community Hospital"

About: Mansfield Community Hospital

(as the patient),

Arriving for my morning appointment I was promptly checked in and called in to the consultation room within 10 minutes. I was being seen by a nurse/doctor I had never met before and they did not introduce themselves -neither name nor role (lack of awareness of importance of #hellomyname is).

I was then asked why I was attending and whether or not I wanted a chlamydia or HIV test. I declined both at which point the nurse/doctor laughed and said I don't know why they are asking us to do them as we have so much to do already.

I feel this is a complete lack of awareness regarding the importance of identifying these life changing conditions ASAP and just because I chose to decline them does not mean that offering the test to everybody is a waste of time.

Overall, I feel that although the staff member was friendly and I achieved the outcome required (I. e. I received my prescription) that awareness needs to be raised about the importance of introducing yourself and not scoffing at offering these important tests to everybody.
