"Telephone enquiry"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

I agree with Anonymous from 18th June. I also rang to enquire about a 12 week scan as I hadn't heard anything at 10+3 and had completed the online referral very early on in my pregnancy. I was told abruptly that there was a backlog and I was likely to be at the top of the pile. I rang again 7 days later and was told by someone else that in fact my referral hadn't been processed properly. I now have a scan at 13+3. This is very frustrating at a stressful and emotional time. A liitle more compassion on the phone would be much appreciated. I would like to add that I had my first baby at Darent Valley and received excellent care throughout.

I apologise that you had difficulties trying to arrange your ante-natal scan when you contacted our department. Pregnancy is an anxious time for many people and you should not have to continually chase up your routine ultrasound appointments. As a result of your comment I have discussed with our booking staff – all queries regarding appointments should be able to be discussed and dealt with at the first call, and any query unable to be resolved will be escalated to me directly. Please contact me on 01322 428579 if you wish to discuss, or have any problems in the future. I wish you well for your pregnancy. Pauline Mellor Superintendant Ultrasound
