"Radiology inconsistent"

About: Ripon and District Community Hospital

I have had 3 ultrasound scans at this hospital. The first was terrible as they were re scanning due to a failure to rescan following finding an abdominal lump some months previously. My GP had highlighted this failure and the staff member doing the scan seemed quite hostile and belligerent. She was certainly very rude but amended her attitude once they found the lump was still there. I got the district impression they were viewing me as a time waster until they found the lump was still there. It wasn't a pleasant experience and I felt pretty humiliated. The most recent scan was fine though and the sonographer was lovely as was one of the ladies behind the desk. That visit would have been great if it hadn't been for the other member of staff behind the desk behaving in such a frosty and high handed manner. Clinical experience better this time though and the sonographer took time to explain things to me, which hadn't happened before. I would say that in other visits I kind of had the feeling that patients were nuisances that got in the way somehow - very patronising and impatient. They could use a little customer service training
