I was in labour with my 2nd child and I called the MLU, who told me to go in for an assessment. I was admitted in labour and was given a room with a birthing pool in. I was greeted by a lovely midwife who was gentle and asked me if I wanted to be examined. She made me feel in control.
I had a water birth, and when the time came for delivery, the room was relaxed, dim lighting etc and the midwife told me to listen to my body. Although I knew she was in the room and I was safe, she gave me the control. It was a fantastic experience.
I gave birth 16 weeks ago and would give birth tomorrow again in the Midwifery Led Unit. The staff kept checking on me and little one, but also gave us time to ourselves to bond. I cannot praise them enough.
"Great experience of midwifery led unit and giving birth"
