"Time to get referred taking too long"

About: Leicester General Hospital

I saw the consultant on the 9th April - very good, thorough and straight to the point. Recommended I had an MRI scan before he could recommend a course of treatment. Very pleased with this as I have been asking to be referred for one by my GP for at least a year. Since the consultation I have been chasing a date for the scan, only to be told by radiology that they haven't yet received any referral. I find this ridiculous - so far it's taken 10 weeks for a bit of paper to travel from one department to another, and it still hasn't arrived. Once radiology receive the referral there's apparently a 6 week wait for the scan. To make the matter worse, the neurology dept rarely answers the phone. Not good.

Dear Mr Mayhew, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We are really sorry to hear how long you have had to wait for a date for an MRI scan. This is unacceptable. We have looked into your case and a member of the imaging team will be in touch with you directly to confirm a date for your scan. We really appreciate patient feedback as it enables us to improve our service for future patients. Kind regards, Communications team, Leicester’s Hospitals
