"Dermatology department"

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing

I can honestly say I am very disappointed in bedford hospital especially the department of dermatology. I was put on a strong drug called roaccutane and my first month had nearly finished. However, they are very short of staff which means appointment slots can take up to months to be seen next. Without them telling me it would take months to see my dermatologist I had to chase them up with numerous calls to find out when my next appointment would be. Finally got a call back only for them to say it could take months for me to be seen next and I replied with saying I would have to stop my course? Instead the supervisor of the appointments desk told me I could get another batch of roaccutane tablets without being seen by a dematologisy. This is very very worryig especially for a patient on roaccutane who needs to checked out by a dermatologist regularly every month to make sure no severe side effects are taking place. The medication also requires blood tests every month and essentially they were willing for me to take more tablets without taking blood tests. It's very scary how they are breaking rules just because of the lack of staff. It's very disappointing and very upsetting
