"I feel that I have been abandoned"

About: North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Warrington Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

Over the last 12 months I have been admitted to Warrington General Hospital 4 times. The last was in November 08 when after 1 week in hospital I was sent to a Nursing Home for a further 2 weeks.

Since leaving the Nursing home I have spoken with my social worker, on a number of occasions. A few days ago I asked him what support was available to me if I felt I should need it. He said I could only get support if I joined a local organisation such as the pensioners support group and that these groups would provide help. He said there was nothing that social services could do.

As a lady of 74 I feel that I have been abandoned. I would like to have someone in social services who I could talk to and who would be there for me.

Thank you for this posting. I would like to start by apologising for the delay in responding, Patient Opinion is a new area of work and unfortunately we missed this posting.

I have spoken with Warrington Social Services and they say that Brian Mawer in the Access to Social Care Team may be able to help. His number is (01925) 444048 and I would encourage you you call him as he will be able to explain what services are available.

I hope you are feeling better and wish you all the best for the future.
