About: Royal Sussex County Hospital Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton BN2 5BE
I had a total hysterectomy for endometrial cancer last month after not doing anything about my symptoms for a long time, because of a bad experience a long time ago. I was very unhappy that I had to have this operation, but afterwards, I felt so well, it was as if nothing had been removed at all. I've been amazed at how quickly I've recovered, and have been able to get around just like I did before, after only a few days. All the staff were very kind and caring towards me, I needn't have worried as much as I did about it. I only stayed for one night, and I had a view from my very comfortable bed out over the marina from the 11th floor of the Thomas Kemp Tower. At night when I couldn't sleep, it was a magical view and I felt very happy, and comfortable that the operation was all behind me. The consultant showed me the cancer on the MRI scans, which had been done the week before, and the nurse, who was working that night on the wards, was always very polite and caring. I am very grateful for everything everybody did for me, to help me face up to going through with the treatment, after such a difficult start, and that must include the PALS team who emailed me to offer me their help earlier this year.
