"Lack of response"

About: Worthing Hospital

I wish I had known about this site before. I have gone elsewhere due to total lack of response to my gp's request for specialist appointments in october 2012 and june 2013. I had been very ill for just over 2 months with lung infections and my gp requested consultant appt at worthing hospital. Just before xmas 2012 I was advised to go private by a friend which I did and on the monday morning I phoned my gp to ask if her could do this, he asked consultants name and when I told he he said he knew that person who was very good , he agreed to refer me . On friday morning in the post I received a letter with an appointment straight after xmas , a week after that appt. I had a ct scan and following week had a second appt. With results and a letter to my gp recommending medication. In may 2013 my gp was concerned and requested an echocardiogram and I duly had one by echotech 10 days later . The report came through in june and my gp requested of worthing hospital a cardio appt. As the report indicated a possible problem. My gp sent the letter before 24 june ! After 3 weeks I rang the appts. Secretary to find out when my appt. Might be and was told it could be another 2 or 3 months I saw my gp a week or so later and she asked me if I had an appt. Yet to which I replied no but was told it could be another 2 or 3 months . She stated she had been given same information but would phone again . I had to see her again a fortnight later and she was quite annoyed at lack of response from worthing . She asked me if I knew where hove polyclinic was and would I mind going there , I know where it is and did not mind going there if it meant I would be seen. She printed off a form with a phone number and password and said phone them on my return home, which I did. I was totally surprised by the response , I was told there was a vacancy the following thursday or the following monday, I took the earlier appt. Several tests were carried out and a short time later I saw the consultant . A very good 30 minutes with him ending up with "I want you to have an angiogram, any time in the next 2 to 5 weeks". I told him I was visiting relatives in the usa for a 3 week period , his response , "we will work round that" I was on holiday in the states when my uk mobile rang , it was rsch brighton , "will you be home for the 7th november" to which I replied yes. On return home I found amongst the mail a letter from worthing giving me an initial appt on 24 oct , I phoned and said not required had been seen by a rsch consultant and had an angiogram programmed in fort following day. Waiting waiting and there is another one this year involving a "particularly virulant cancer" and another visit to a & e / amu this weekend past, but I have only 200 characters left
