Our son has just been in Ward 17 for 4 1/2 days, and the staff here are magnificent. Nothing was ever too much trouble, everything was explained to us - they were really happy to answer all our questions as anxious parents and keen to make our son's stay a positive experience. They were really kind to us as parents, making sure we were comfortable and had all the information we need. One could not be more cared for and looked after with concern here in Ward 17. The staff work extremely hard and they all deserve to have a pay rise. Bed chair on the ward was uncomfortable but the bed chair in the side room was more luxurious. Great food - only disappointment was that parents couldn't have the same food because believe me, it was worth paying for, it was delicious (we had a taste of what our son couldn't finish).

Thank you for taking the time to post your lovely comments on NHS choices. The staff on CAU strive to give patients and their parents a relaxing environment where possible, and take the time to talk to families to explain treatments and plans of care. It is great to hear that as a unit we are achieving these goals. We try to ensure that parents have a comfortable bed/ chair to sleep and appreciate some of these are older than others. When replacing chair beds we have to ensure that they are suitable, but also ensure that we can still access the patient at all times. We are glad that the food provided for your child was of a good quality, the trust is currently undergoing refurbishment of the main entrance, when this is completed there will be a restaurant where visitors will be able to access good quality food.
