"not treated as a human"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

I was treated throughout little better than an animal, I was waiting 5 hours even with a GP urgent referral. I was not kept informed, given no water nor drink and told that I could not leave. Clearly I left, went elsewhere and received treatment fit for a human Hospital is for care it is not a prison, a little respect and dignity costs nothing The staff have 'receptionist gaze' as in they are practised at looking through you when you have been abandoned in a cubical for 4 hours and they do not want to help or assist. A smile as you walk past is free is it not?

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I am sorry that you had a poor experience with us. This is not the experience we aim to give any of our patients in the trust and we are working to make things better. We have installed water coolers in many of our areas, have volunteers who ensure that patients are offered food and drinks if the patients are not nil by mouth, and we are rolling out a customer care programme. I am sorry that none of these actions appear to have had an impact on your visit. It would be helpful for us to have further information and if you would like to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Team on 01753 633365 or pals@hwph-tr.nhs.uk I can look into why this happened on your visit. Your comments have been fed back to the Associate Director of Nursing for Medicine to share with the team. Thank you again Kind Regards Claire Marshall Associate Director of Patient Experience and Public Involvement
