I attended the MIU yesterday with a scald to my left arm. I waited around 2 hours to be seen with no immediate first aid. I didn't realise at the time that this was not suitable. It was only when I went to East Grinstead MIU later in the evening and was told the correct procedure for a burn that I realised my arm was so bad due to the lack of immediate first aid and covering the burn, not waiting for 2 hours with nothing covering it. In my opinion I could have been told what to do on arrival and then I would have happily waited for 2 hours to see the Nurse for a more indepth assessment. By the evening my arm was severely blistered and have been referred to Burns Unut. I know what to do next time. The staff are always very helpful and polite, I could have just been given something to cover the wound while waiting.
