"Broken Hip"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

My mother fell & broke her hip while visiting us & ended up in Lancaster Hospital, she had pins placed in her hip, she was 85 at the time & quite active. After weeks of agony in Lancaster Hospital we later found on her transferal to Leeds where she lives that her hip was still in fact broken & the operation was a complete failure. After weeks of being drugged up with pain killers & having to be pushed around in a wheel chair she had a complete hip replacement at Chapel Allerton Hospital, what a difference within a few weeks my mother was able to walk again with just a walking stick & the pain in her hip had gone. I left this review as I hope no one has to ever go through that & be made think that being in great pain weeks after an operation is normal, I know at 85 anything could happen but it would be terrible to have lost my mother because she was not given the correct treatment & thank goodness she had her family to fight for her which sadly lots of old people don't.

We are really sorry that your family’s experience at our hospital wasn’t what you would expect and are very keen to investigate and respond directly to you. Please would you contact our Patient Relations team on 01539 795497 to allow us to carry out that work. Many thanks.
