"short stay unit gateway d"

About: Circle-Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre

Went to gateway d as an inpatient for general surgery. I arrived just before my appointment time and was seen straight away by a nurse and taken to my room. The first question she asked me was "what's the reason for staying overnight". I was told when this operation was booked in that it was an overnight stay. Also on my confirmation letter it said would be an overnight stay, also was told this at the pre-op. Because of this, I made all the necessary arrangements and for someone to collect me the next day. I felt like no sooner had I arrived, they were already trying to get rid of me. They just kept saying there was no need for me to be there overnight! I then had to change my arrangements and mess people about by getting someone to collect me that evening and stay with me overnight. Why send me to gateway d, the short stay unit if they didn't want me to stay? Why not just admit me as a daycase to gateway g? I've always been happy at the treatment centre in the past but it seems like they are messing people about with this newly opened short stay unit. Also, I wasn't 100% happy with the way I was treated by both the nurses on the ward and the anaesthetist. Thank goodness I had a nice caring consultant. Not looking forward to my next operation in there in september!
