"GP uncaring about daughter with cerebral palsy"

About: Greater Manchester

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

This story has been posted by Healthwatch Tameside on behalf of a member of the public. We have their details and will forward any comments to them. They said…

This lady’s daughter has cerebral palsy and Angelman syndrome and is confined to a wheelchair. She has no speech.

Doctor tells her not to bring daughter but to ring up – but she wants him to see her – it’s no trouble. Previously at Highland surgery – great doctors but they all left, so she moved to a new surgery. Had 2 great lady doctors – they would always ask about her daughter’s health when she had her own appointments. They both left the practice and they have a doctor who doesn’t seem to care about daughter.

Always had doctors who care about them, but if something goes wrong with daughter, who can mother take her to – this GP doesn’t seem to care. No interest!

Mother went with a sore finger – mentioned bad shoulder – was told had to make another appointment. Mother getting older now, lots of things could go wrong.
