My elderly father spent the last 11 days of his life in ICU at Hammersmith Hospital recently. Our family cannot praise the staff enough, given what were awful circumstances for us we felt that we were treated with the utmost kindness and consideration. My father was treated with respect and received great nursing care. We were informed about planned changes in our fathers care and were made to feel part of that decision making process. We feel lucky that he was admitted from an ambulance into Hammersmith hospital (we have received emergency treatment in other hospitals in north London and there was a huge difference in the level of care received). All the staff we encountered were respectful and kind and this made a big difference to my father and us in his last few days, particularly his consultant, who helped gently and patiently us guide through what was happening and helped us understand the situation better and one of my father's nurses - both of whom were outstanding and a credit to the department. Thank you. Andrea Love (nee D'Arcy)
