"cataract surgery"

About: Ormskirk & District General Hospital

I had my first cataract operation on Monday. I had been fairly nervous about it even though friends had told me it was nothing to worry about. The atmosphere was very calm and relaxed in the day lounge where we waited and the staff very helpful. Each step of the procedure was explained so I knew what to expect. The anaesthetist was very reassuring. The op itself was completely painless and not at all frightening as I had thought it might be. Now, two days later, colours are so much brighter. My vision is not yet completely sharp as the pupil is still a bit dilated but I expect this to come right over the next few days. Overall I was very pleased with the standard of care and the kindness and efficiency of all the staff. I am looking forward to the second op with confidence and would definitely recommend the department. Many thanks to all concerned
