"Visiting with mother aged 93"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

Took mum (aged 93) to Whipps Cross Hospital today, which has a fairly bad reputation. She has been a few times before for her hips, this time it was the Eye Treatment Centre for cataracts. You go in, there is a complete tide of humanity, every size, shape, culture - I was glad I was with Mum, because it must be quite overwhelming for a little, frail (looking) lady. But we have no complaints - without exception, in two entirely separate departments, she has been treated with efficiency, humour, kindness, everything you would want for her - well done Whipps Cross and NHS. Mind you, they did fall into the trap of talking to her a bit too loudly and slowly, almost as if she was old - big mistake!
